Tips for Buying Electricity

Take control of the purchasing process with these simple suggestions.

• Don’t wait until 30 days prior to your contract term to renew. Why? As you can see here, there has been increased price volatility during the first two months of 2013. The time to begin buying for a May or June contract start is sometime between now and mid-April.
• Know your budget, and then sign a contract to lock in that budget number when you see it.
• Get at least 3 or 4 suppliers to bid on your contract. We have seen differences of 5% to 7% among supplier quotes. (If you need help getting supplier quotes, let us know.)
