The Megawatt Hour- Energy Management – Energy Information

News Date: 07/11/2013

The Megawatt Hour, the New York-based energy information platform, has signed an agreement with the Albany, New York-based Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu), which represents more than 100 independent colleges and universities in New York State. The agreement launches a new program called the CICU-MWh Energy Purchasing and Analysis Program, which will be offered to CICU’s member campuses this summer.

Under the new agreement, the Megawatt Hour will provide CICU member institutions with access to wholesale market information and a customized retail-pricing model, unique in the current marketplace. The Megawatt Hour’s proprietary online pricing model provides savings and improved risk management capability through a more proactive, hands-on approach to purchasing electricity.

Laura Anglin, president of CICU, said: “We look forward to working with The Megawatt Hour to provide our campuses with expertise and technology that will help them save money on energy. This unique program complements our existing collaborative purchasing programs in health care and computer technology. Ultimately, the goal of The CICU Collaborative is to enable our member campuses to reduce expenses and increase efficiencies.”

CICU will work with The Megawatt Hour to help campuses to access technology to manage their electricity budgets and costs. The Megawatt Hour will assist participating campuses to secure electricity supply at the lowest possible rates, while managing complex and volatile energy markets.

“We’ve developed a better method to purchasing electricity, one that employs cutting-edge technology to put CICU member institutions back in control of their energy budgets by delivering lower costs, lower risk, complete transparency, and a much more hands-on approach to customer service,” said The Megawatt Hour’s President Deirdre Lord, “We’re finding that colleges and universities are looking for a better way.”
