The Megawatt Hour- Energy Management – Energy Information

High heat in the Northeast is here and should be here for much of the week

High heat is expected today and throughout the rest of the week. For example, today, July 20, Con Edison  declared an emergency activation of its Distribution Load Relief Program (DRLP) today, Monday July 20, 2020 from 4:00PM to 10:00PM. In addition, the NY ISO has activated its Special Case Resources and Emergency Demand Response Program Resources in the Targeted Demand Response Program (TDRP) (7/20/2020) in sub-load pockets J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J7, and J8* starting at 16:00 and ending at 22:00.

Why do you care about high heat?

As you well know, we are not demand response providers. However we thought you should be aware that this may be a peak day in the ConEd territory. Why? Three reasons. Such periods can strain building operations. Second, there may be constraints on the ConEd system that cause problems throughout the City. And third, depending on how the rest of the summer unfolds, this may be a peak period for the NY ISO. Let us know if you have any questions.
